12th Annual Telecom Policy Conference

Dr. Ted Bolema, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Economic Growth (ISEG), spoke at the Free State Foundation’s 12th Annual Telecom Policy Conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC on March 10, 2020. The conference featured leading telecom policymakers from the FTC and FCC, leading telecom scholars, and top industry executives. The regulatory comments by D Bolema and Free State Foundation President Randolph J. May were filed before the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice Antitrust Division. In these comments, they praised the direction of these agencies’ draft Vertical Merger Guidelines as having a stronger economic foundation than previous guidance from the agencies but noted several areas in which the agencies could add clarity to their guidance to reduce regulatory uncertainty about vertical merger enforcement.
