The impact of medical marijuana remains a hotly debated topic. Discoveries and advancements on potential medicinal applications abound. Similarly, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has even approved THC-based medications in pill form. But as a growing number of states have legalized marijuana for people with medical conditions, more data on the economic impact has also become. This has led to even more debate, not only in the general population but also in state legislatures.
Kansas Latest State on the Verge of Legalization
Kansas is one of only three states that has not legalized medical marijuana yet. The Kansas House of Representatives recently passed a bill which would change that. For instance, the new potential legislation would make it legal for 22 ailments. However, it would prohibit smoking or vaping the drug. In other words, Kansas would become the 48th state to legalize marijuana in some form. However, the bill must first pass in the Kansas Senate.
That’s not a bygone conclusion. While some feel legalization is inevitable, the Senate may not act this session. The situation has led to an increased interest in the potential outcomes. As a result, the local NBC affiliate KSN News reported on the potential impact on local businesses and the region’s economy.
